Solitary Rose 🌹 Written By Nichole Sulpizio

As she sits amoung the murky lake

Full of algae

Stillness

Aquatic

Suffocation of the summer sun

Yet cheerfully comforting

Light breeze amoung the trees

Full of life

Reminiscent

Each broad branch representing a new step

She is lost in the beauty

And haunted by the many paths she took to get here

The branches that broke beneath her during the storm

Fell with such force and demise

Not her

The wilted leaves that left such disdain in her mouth

Like a toxic dump

Smelling of rotten carcus and debris

The death of the past

Awaken to a new light

Like a solitary flower

Basken in the yellow hues

Fruitful and vivid

Swaying with the slightest breeze

Glorified

Capturing this moment

As it awaits the death of winters doom

Only to rise and shine again in springs dew

Like she

A solitary rose!!

    1. Why thank you so very much ❀️ It was truly inspired by a single rose that stood out Among nothing but mulch and dirt As if it stood by itself in its beauty not needing other beautiful flowers to thrive… it stood at all by itself securely and undisturbed…and then i not only capture that I also captured the scene surrounding it and related personally ❀️

  1. I’m so GLAD to see you again!!!!!!!!!! In this time of unusual and unpredictable life moments (are not most of them unpredictable!!?!!), it is nice to see people who have been missed. I could SEE this and yes, even yucky waters can have some sort of life and all things compost down to spread the spark. Like roses. Will never forget the memorial we went to at a neighbor’s. The ashes were sprinkled under the rose bushes and that summer the flowers were amazing. My youngest, who was very young then, remarked, ‘Tim was really good for those roses.’

Kris thanks for the beautiful comment as it is amazing to hear from you too ❀️ glad my poem resonates with you as a poet you know a poem can be read and captured from several different angles meaning so many wonderful things! Sorry about your neighbors however sad sounds like a beautiful ending with the roses 🌹
